( September 29, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka Guardian) Forty LTTE suspects, being held in the Anuradhapua prison, are continuing with their hunger strike, says the Prisons Department.
“A commissioner of prisons, Lakshman De Silva, has been sent to Anuradhapura to look into the matter discuss with the detainees,” said Major General V. R. Silva, Prisons Commissioner General.
The detainees demand that legal action, if any, be taken against them, and expedite matters to provide them with some relief.
The Commissioner General of Prisons noted that the detainees were being held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
