UPFA takes lead in Monaragala Postal Votes

UPFA leading in Jaffna MC elections, TNA closing in Vavuniya

(August 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) took the most number of votes in postal voting in Monaragala district, Election Department announced short wile ago. The United National Party (UNP) came second and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna(JVP) third.

Details of Results announced:

UPFA- 7076
UNP - 793
JVP – 234

Total - 8353

Meanwhile,as the counting of the votes in the Jaffna MC and Vavuniya UC elections continued, the UPFA was heading the list in Jaffna while the TNA and UPFA were poised for a close finish, officials said.

In Jaffna the UPFA was leading with a majority of over 1,200 votes as they were approaching the final count.
