Illegal computer assistant exam of Kalaniya Campus cancelled!

(August 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Management of the Kelaniya Campus decided to cancel the written examination which was scheduled to confirm the services of the staff recruited as Computer Application Assistants, after Inter University Employees Union showed the illegality of the same.

Examination was scheduled to be held by the end of July 2009 in contravention of the letters of appointment given to Computer Application Assistants recruited to the University Of Kelaniya in 2005, 2006 and 2007. After the Inter University Employees Union (Kelaniya Branch) clearly explained to the management that holding of an examination is not the appropriate course of action to confirm those employees and it is illegal and unethical; the management took up the decision to cancel the examination.
