(July 02, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lanka’s first solar power enabled village has been established at Galgamuwa in Madulla of Monaragala district under the government’s renewable Energy Development Programme. Under this project solar power facilities have been provided for 300 houses in Galgamuwa village.
It is being carried out under the supervision of authority on sustainable energy. The project handed over to the people yesterday. The ceremony held under the patronage of Minister W.D.J. Senevirathne and Indian High Commissioner Alok Prasad.
