(July 24, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)The Mount Lavinia magistrate's court yesterday carried out the magisterial inquiry into the assassination of the editor-in-chief of the Leader Publications, Lasantha Wickremathunga.
Lawyers who were present at the court on behalf of the rights of Mr. Wickremathunge stated that the police had not sown interest in carrying out the necessary investigations.
The lawyers requested court to hand over investigations to another police team as the Mirihana police was not present in court yesterday.
Taking all details into consideration, the magistrate ordered the police to complete all investigations and submit a report to court.
Meanwhile, the suspect who had stolen the mobile phone belonging to the late Lasantha Wickrematunge was further remanded until August 6.
