(July 23, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Wife of Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan, the National Integration Minister and a former Tamil Tiger military commander also known as Col. Karuna, in an exclusive interview to our special correspondent in London, accused her husband is determinedly betraying the Tamil people and their leadership.
Muralitharan’s wife Vidyavathy and three children have immigrated to Britain few years ago and they are now living in Scotland after having claimed refugee status. She spoke to our correspondent for more than four hours on the telephone and we are unable to publish the verbatim of the recorded interview in order to maintain media ethics.
‘There is no doubt that he has forgotten all his basic responsibilities and he now claims he is the leader of Tamil Community. ‘Even I am unable to talk about some issues relating to the family as he has really messed it up’ said Vidyavathy. Vidyavathy was a former senior member of Tamil Tigers’ women wing.
‘We had sincere objective when we broke away from the LTTE with more than 6,000 rebels, but now he has become a yes man and a puppet of the government for selfish reasons’ she added.
She accused the key persons in the government establishment and said, ‘they must take the full responsibility for Karuna’s failures and they are allowing him to walk on the wrong path’. ‘He is now behaving like King Nero fiddling his tune in his final phase’ she angrily retorted.
This is the first time Col Karuna’s wife has spoken to the media. It was clear Karuna’s wife was very angry and frustrated that her husband is behaving in an appalling manner with the state provided rewards. She further said, ‘I gave one month notice for him to put everything right, otherwise, I will reveal all the secrets of what happened and what is happening publicly.’
Meanwhile, a source in the Ministry of National Integration said, ‘the Minister is planning to undertake an international tour with some of his personal friends to meet the Tamil Diaspora.’
When enquired further, the senior aide of Minister Karuna said, ‘The Government has sanctioned funds for the forthcoming visit to Europe with his close associates.’
Allocation of funds for his European tour comes at the time scandals after scandals of financial irregularities are revealed. Sources close to Karuna said that the Minister has avoided paying salaries to his staff and some of them fear to leave his ministry due to possible retribution from him.

I wonder if seperation from man wife, due to disagreements have become a legitamte reason for being accepted as a refugee in Soctland and the West. Col.Karuna is a minister and is a free man in Sri Lanka and what other reason is there for his wife and family not living in Sri Lanka and why do they have refugee status in Scotland?
Very clear indication of bogus refugee status exposed.
This lady may have got her refugee status long time back with somewhat legitimate reason but her husband has been chief minister for some time now, so there is no reason why she should not come back to Sri Lanka (or sent back)
As for what she is talking about should be treated as crap !
She is just making her self ready to stay on and strengthen her refugee status.
Next thing she will say is she has death treat if she returns to SL.
Fabrications continues for the benefit of diaspora
It's so funny to read Alwis' comments. It is not just Vidyavathy and her children that asked for refugee status in foreign countries.
Hundreds of millions of tamils who have been deprived of their basic rights by the ruthless governments of Sri Lanka in the past 60+ years have sort refuge in other lands to merely save their lives.
The tamils have been descriminated by the Sinhala state and were purposely targetted for simply beings tamils by race. The LTTE was a by-product of the Sri Lankan state terrorism. Now that the LTTE is claimed to be crushed, is there any reasonable solution in sight for tamils? Not a chance, not now, not in a few months, not in a few years. It will never happen.
The international community was taken for a ride by the plot of Mahinda Rajapakse with many other ruthless states in the shadow. That included China, Iran, Pakistan, Venezuela, Cuba, Israel, Russia and even India to a certain extent. The so called co-chairs were aware of a genocide-in-the-make and still had become by-standers in allowing it to happen. They had their own geographical, political, economical and regional reasons and of course were in the process of gaining mileage in eying for Maritime Sea usage.
Well, well, well!! For any mileage to gain, it should not be at the expense of the blood bath of hundreds of thousands of innocent tamil civilians. the LTTE was standing firm in voicing for the basic rights of tamils in the North and East.
Now you can see all the fox are out, all the gang leaders are joining the govt of Rajapakse, warlords are partying with the SL regime, junjaweeds are all jumping on the heels to preach democracy and freedom for the oppressed. How cool is that!!
Come on world!!! Wake up and call for some investigation into systemetic killing and massacreing of more than 30,000 innocent tamil civilians in just weeks in April & May 2009.

Maybe she finally understood she married a pocketfilling, heel licking traitor. Staying in Sri Lanka doesn't seem to be an option then when you want to stay alive.
She has taken refugee status to be safe from her husband. That is rather obvious. Also, one hears that her husband has been having a great time in some of the resort hotels in Sri Lanka.
Kavalooravan doesn't know that thousands of Tamils like myself live safely and happily in Sri Lanka, and that our situation has improved steadily with the demise of the LTTE.

Not thousands of Tamils but a few who do not identify themself as Tamils and have no conscience live indeed safely and happily in Sri Lanka.
It is good to know that your situation has improved after mass killing of the LTTE fighters. But unfortunately the living condition of 300000 Tamils in extermination capms are not improved after more than 2 months.
