(June 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Government yesterday initiated a special educational program for the students of displaced families who are sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination this year under the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Resettlement and Relief Services Minister Rishard Bathiudeen gave away reading material, uniforms and stationery to 700 A\L students in the welfare camps in Vavuniya under this program, the Daily News reported today (June 16).
A contingent of A/L teachers has been assigned to teach these students and conduct classes to fully cover the syllabus by the Education Ministry. In addition the services of teachers in national schools will also be acquired to update their knowledge and make them ready for the Advanced Level examination.
