(June 15, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent a message of congratulations to Dr. Mahmoud Ahmedinejad on his re-election as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The re-election of President Ahmedinejad is joyous news for all Sri Lankans because he is considered to be a close friend of this country, the message states.
Here is the text of the President’s message:
His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Ahmedinejad
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Excellency,
The Government and the people of Sri Lanka join me in congratulatingyou on Your Excellency’s re-election as the President of the IslamicRepublic of Iran. For all of us in Sri Lanka, this is joyous newsbecause we consider Your Excellency to be a close of friend of our country.
It is my firm conviction therefore that during your new tenure of office, theclose ties of friendship and cooperation between our two countries will befurther strengthened to greater heights for the mutual benefit of our peoples.I look forward eagerly to working closely with Your Excellency as we have donebefore, to further consolidate our bilateral relations into a lastingmulti-sectoral engagement.
