(June 11,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Parliamentarian and President’s Counsel Wijedasa Rajapaksa said yesterday that officials at the Welikada Prison had not allowed him to meet certain inmates when he visited the Prison complex.
When contacted, V. Puthrasigamani, Deputy Minister of Justice said that he had not received a complaint in that regard.
However, Mr. Puthrasigamani went onto say that the approval of a police Superintendent was not required to visit a prison inmate.
He added that an investigation could be carried out if MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa lodged a complaint.
