(June 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) With dengue death toll reaching 90, the Ministry of Health says that 68 health divisions have been identified as areas which have come under the threat of the rapidly spreading disease.
“A special dengue prevention programme would be launched in these identified health divisions,” said Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Deputy Director General of Public Health.
Over 7,200 patients who have contracted the disease have been reported islandwide.
“7,200 dengue patients and 90 dengue related deaths have been reported in 68 health divisions in districts including Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Matale, Matara, Hambantota, Batticaloa and Trincomalee. We have taken steps to commence dengue prevention programmes in these areas,” said Dr. Mahipala. -Sri Lanka Guardian
