(May 16,Muliavaikal, Sri Lanka Guardian) News of the kind the whole Sri Lankan nation has been expecting for sometime is most likely to break out within the next 48 hours from the No Fire Zone, if not much earlier and with that probably most of the ground operations are likely to come to an end. said Brigade Commander of the 58 Division Brigadier Shavendra Silva in an interview with the Sri Lanka Guardian.

One of the heroes of the war against terrorism and also in the rescue of 250,000 civilians held as human shield by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam also said that three key leaders of this ruthless terror outfit have been engaged in attacking the security forces. They are Pottu Amman, Swarnam and Soosai. They are still entrenched in the No Fire Zone. “We have heard their voices through their communication system but we are in no position now to confirm whether Prabhakaran is inside with them or somewhere else,” added Brigadier Shavendra Silva.

In answer to our query, the brigadier said the Tigers are still in possession of two or three heavy weapons but have lost almost all their main weapons and even the manpower has gone down very badly. While many of the cadres perished on the frontlines, a number of them have also fled from the LTTE and surrendered to the Armed Forces.

Hundreds of hostages have also held ny them and they have been attacking them from behind all these days, the LTTE has no means of holding them back.

In the meantime reports and impressions are pouring in that there have been a concerted action by some foreign organizations including the Human Rights Watch personal and some countries, based on false reports by some media organizations of the West and the campaigns of pro-LTTE Diaspora the Government of Sri Lanka has been criticized as using heavy artillery against the Tigers endangering the lives of the civilians.

Attempts have also been made to present the IDPs as being consigned to concentration camps whereas despite the sudden emergence of this problem, the government has taken full control over these camps to ensure lives of the displaced persons get back to normal as soon as possible.

The IDP camps are certainly not 5-star hotels and it must be appreciated that their homes in the Wanni present a danger of mines buried by the Tigers and also a number of Tiger cadres have slipped among the civilians.
