Prabhakaran might come as ghost and… - Army Chief

‘Media personnel in the pay of the LTTE will be exposed’

(May 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka yesterday said the media personnel who had been paid by the LTTE to promote its cause would be appropriately dealt with according to the law.

He said so in an interview with ITN last night.

In answer to a question what he proposed to do in respect of journalists in the pay of the LTTE, as revealed by the two LTTE spokesmen now in custody, General Fonseka said, such people should be considered traitors and brought to book.

General Fonseka said the LTTE smuggler KP was no leader and therefore could not lead the LTTE. "He is living off LTTE funds and he will step up his rackets," the Army Commander said.

Even if KP were to try to revive the LTTE, there were plans to counter such moves, Gen Fonseka said. "We have won the war, but we have not abandoned our campaign to defeat the Eelam Project," he said.

The LTTE had been built by Prabhakaran and a few other dedicated leaders and no one else could aspire to resurrect the outfit, the Army Chief said adding, "If KP tries to take over the LTTE, Prabhakaran will appear as a ghost and squeeze that man’s neck."
