(April 10,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapaksa, on an official visit to Libya, met the head of state Colonel Muammar Al Gaddafi yesterday.
The two leaders discussed strengthening economic and trade ties between the countries in particular, stated the President’s media unit.
President Rajapaksa briefed the Libyan leader on the efforts made to liberate the country from terrorism and the efforts of the government to fulfill the humanitarian needs of the people in the north.
According to the media unit, the Libyan leader had been eager to learn of the experiences that Sri Lanka had in defeating one of the world’s most ruthless terrorist organizations.
Meanwhile, at discussions between President Rajapaksa and Libyan prime minister Dr. Al-Baghadi Ali Al Mahmudi, Libya had pledged to provide 100,000 job opportunities to Sri Lankans in Libya.
