(April 16, Colombo-Oslo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Responding to Sri Lanka government’s view that there is no room for Norway to be a facilitator in the engagement with Sri Lanka, the spokesman for the Norwegian embassy in Colombo has said that there was no peace process to facilitate.
Following the attack on the Sri Lankan embassy in Oslo, Norway, by a group of LTTE supporters on Sunday, the government of Sri Lanka has said it no longer perceived it feasible for Norway to act as facilitator in its engagement with Sri Lanka in the current context.
This was communicated to Norway’s ambassador to Sri Lanka Tore Hattrem at a meeting with Foreign Ministry officials on Monday.
Meanwhile, Rannveig Skofteland, media spokesperson for the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo confirmed that the Foreign Ministry had indicated that there was no longer room for a facilitator in the engagement with Sri Lanka.
She added that Norway shared that view as there was no peace process to facilitate at the time.
She noted that Norway would now focus on helping the civilians caught in a desperate situation.
Meanwhile, A protest was staged in front of the Norwegian embassy in Colombo this morning over the attack on the Sri Lankan embassy in Oslo, Norway.
The Rev. Battaramulle Seelarathana Thero, general secretary of the Janasetha Front, which organized the protest, said that a document had been handed over to the deputy of the Norwegian ambassador protesting against the attack on the Sri Lanka embassy in Norway.

If there is no peace process to facilitate why is Norway getting involved as an active player. Their bias towards is well confirmed in their ignoring of vandalism at Sri Lanka mission in Oslo. Record shows that all their peace efforts are failures due to their partiality to one of the parties involved.
