Government seeking peace talks with LTTE -Ranil

(April 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Addressing a UNP election rally in Negombo yesterday (19 Apr) , UNP and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe dropped a bombshell when he disclosed that the Govt. is seeking peace talks with the LTTE . A senior advisor of the President has stated that he is willing to talk to LTTE ‘s newly appointed international spokesman Kumar Pathmanathan alias K.P., Mr. Wickremesinghe stated.

It is very unfortunate that the President is slinking from facing Mr. Wickremesinghe’s open challenge for a public debate on the issues facing the country . The President is blaming me for signing the ceasefire agreement ; if that was so why did the LTTE manipulate with the President to defeat me at the last Presidential elections , he asked. ‘It is because they knew that I will not betray the country , they made such dubious moves’, he added.

What Ranil Wickramasinghe is talking about? He did sell off the country to LTTE. Any fool can understand how the CFA is worded in favour of LTTE. This bloke even now does not blame the LTTE for the terrorist activities. Bradman Weerakon is the point man who got containers released from the customs without being inspected and got them sent to Vanni. Even the present saga in Norway is doubtful whether orchestrated by Bradman Weerakon’s son who is the current Sri Lankan Ambassador to Norway. They never tabled the contents of the CFA in parliament for ratification. Without parliament approval to have entered in to such an agreement one wonders the legality of the constitution drafted with his uncle JRJ. Ranil should join the LTTE before accusing the government. He is more venomous to be a member of UNP to make these comments.
