(April 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The UPFA secured 68 seats in the 104 member Western Provincial Council while the UNP returned 30 members to the council followed by JVP -3, SLMC - 2 and Democratic Unity Alliance one member.
Of the votes the UPFA secured 1,506,115, the UNP 688,253, the JVP 56,384 , the SLMC 49,388 and DUA 11,970.
