When the Tigers on the run are screaming “Aiyo Ammay” to save their lives, the British man in London says give them a chance and protection from a third force. Why? Have they not killed enough? After all the United Kingdom harboured Anton and Adele Balasingam and has this any significance?
(April 28, Frankfurt, Sri Lanka Guardian) Can any politician holding a key ministerial position in his government be so imprudent and irrational as the British Foreign Secretary David Miliband?
He has called on the Sri Lankan Government to respond to the unilateral ceasefire announced by the LTTE Sunday April 26, 2009 when all was virtually finished for this terror group and whose last defiant act was to hold some 250,000 civilians hostage.
Holding civilians hostage has been part of the brutal weaponry of the LTTE. Furthermore, no other man in known history has decimated so many political opponents apart from civilians as the leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran.
The LTTE’s offer of ceasefire comes far too late and it must be quite clear to the British Foreign Secretary that this is just a ruse to save Prabhakaran who just would not surrender, the only option that is available to him. It is indeed very shocking how some of the countries in the west are conducting themselves when a small third world country is able to sort out its terrorism problem, which these powerful nations are unable to do so with all the resources available to them.
Their civilian collateral loss of lives in their bombings are astronmical but they just don't care even if communities were wiped out. Even this war was declared on the faulty premise that Sadam Hussein was holding weapons of mass destruction.
Sorting out terrorism in Sri Lanka will open the way for the country to solve its ethnic problem and get on with developing the country. Evidently, these western countries do not want the smaller, less developed nations to progress. They must also be worried about the economic growth of China and India. They probably feel giving a new breath of life to the LTTE will keep Sri Lanka perpetually perched on racism and economic backwardness.
The British Foreign Secretary should be told quite categorically that the people of Sri Lanka want a final end to the LTTE. Britain cannot even control the LTTE hooligans in London and already the Tiger underworld is a major problem in that country. May be Minister Miliband and his government think that by keeping the British Tiger elements focused on Sri Lanka, they will have less problems from them in Britain.
Let Britain and other countries in the West be warned that the LTTE began as a force in the tuition centres of north Sri Lanka. There, the young people were hijacked from the parents and brainwashed to become LTTE cadres; in reality suicide bombers and terrorists. Now the next generation Diaspora Tamils is exposed to the Tiger underworld in their university campuses and their brand of terrorism would certainly be global.
In respect of the Tigers in Sri Lanka, the will of the people of Sri Lanka has been clearly indicated in all the recent local bodies’ elections. President Mahinda Rajapakse has an obligation to the people of Sri Lanka.
The British Foreign Secretary and his government are well advised to respect the will and wish of the people. President Rajapakse is doing a great job. The only option for the LTTE is nothing but total surrender to the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. If that is painful for Prabhakaran and the few left of them is to exercise their own commitment that cost hundreds of lives and that is to take the cyanide.

Nothing to debate..Miliband is the weakest link in the history of U.K. foreign affairs..Few weeks ago in U.K's parliament very lamely he tried to justify U.K. judges' decision not to disclose evidence they have on Guantanamo Bay torture as it may irritate relatioship with U.S.A.. Contrastly what is he attempting now, same guys responsible for Estate Tamil problem & upgrading Jaffna Tamils over Majority Sinhalese with excessive privileges leading to upperhand mentality to dominate over Sinhalese.
It is pretty simple. The west wants the war to continue. It opens up so many opportunities for their citizens in terms of job creation, sale of arms, lucrative victim industry etc. In addition to this, if LTTE survives, then Balkanisation of India will follow suit - a great way to dismantle a rising economic power in Asia. It is time that these morons be told to get #$%@&*! and it is good to see that the Sri Lanka Government had the courage to tell the Swedish FM to 'come later buddy' as Sri Lanka is already full of Western FMs who themselves are full of it!

Looking at the latest news I do not agree entirely that the UK (or India, UN, US or/and France)are trying to help rescue tigers.
I think GoSL is helping the rest to keep the Tamil Diaspora happy, help the civilians to get out from NFZ, to help the civilians who are already out and at the same time let GoSL get the Tigers.
Don’t forget France, India, UK, US and others have given millions of $s to help SL humanitarian situation without which GoSL will be in trouble. Tigers know this now and have already started winding up the Tamil Diaspora – I expect another wave of worldwide protests by the Diaspora shortly.
GoSL does not say they have given a ceasefire and say they are advancing with small weapons.

I hope Tigers will not make a bloodbath of the civilians to blame the government, no one in the world with some good brain cells will buy it. But I fear for the innocent civilians.
Well, I hope soon these innocent civilians will be freed and also very optimistic of GoSL will really start developing this country. If they don’t they too are stupid when look back the suffering we all went through through the decades we passed.
I look forward to seeing boundless and beautiful beaches of northern and eastern coasts to have some pretty good hotels and our country will be the tourist centre of the earth while garment industries and agriculture can grow in the rest. This will create opportunities to our countrymen in the north and east not only of jobs but also to interact with the rest of the world more closely and to live as one. Of course there will be attempts by LTTE and Diaspora to rise again, but if the people are genuinely happy and busy with their lives and have equal opportunities it will die. You may say I am dreamer but I am not the only one.
