(March 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Your feature, “Vanni: The “most ignored human tragedy” by Arusha from Wales, London is deeply flawed and replete with misinformation, no doubt, intended or even pre-packed to give a mischievous twist to the realties in Wanni. In the very first paragraph itself Arusha from Wales takes the reader for a fantasy ride by saying that a certain Kalaivaani who will not forget her experience until the day she dies, claiming that she “narrowly escaped from Sri Lankan government ruthless bombardment for the civilian safety-zone in Vanni."
Kalaivaani added: “If we had been on the government designated safety zone already, we'd probably be dead right now." She was, according to Arusha from Wales, fighting to hold back her tears when she shared her experience with her.
How can one imagine a situation when the forces are holding back fire as much as possible to attack designated safety zones to which the hostages are fleeing? There are volunteers and also ICRC personnel around and it is only a badly disciplined force that would dare behave that way. Kalaivaani surely must be a surreal character created by Arush from Wales to deliver her share of bamboozles to mislead mischievously. She just could not have met her Kalaivaani in the very scenario she has tried hard to paint against the Government of Sri Lanka.
Her feature is a litany of utter falsehood and mendacious fabrication. It is an attempt at desperation to provide life support for a beyond-hope creature that terrorized Sri Lanka for nearly four decades and traumatized the very community that it claimed to serve. It is hoped that Arusha from Wales, possibly on holiday in Sri Lanka did not pick Kalaivaani from a mental home, a consequence to having lived in Wanni under the iron rule of the LTTE. She possibly sees the enemy she was told to visualize and many such people would be in urgent need of psychiatric help.
There is the story of a visitor to a mental asylum who when he greeted a normal looking pretty young lady in the corridor, told him that she was really sorry that her father was against marrying him. Later, he learnt from the matron in charge of her that was her problem. She became depressed and distraught when her father refused to allow her to marry her cousin. The matron hoped that she would get cured.
If there indeed was a Kalaivaani, one should hope that she would get cured and understand the real picture prevailing in Wanni. If there is no Kalaivaani, then Arush from Wales has behaved ignobly and most shamefully. How I wish the editors of the Sri Lanka Guardian verified the authenticity of this claim.
If the first part of Arush’s feature is fantasy beyond whimsical vision, the following paragraph from her indicates that the Armed forces are only engaged in killing the civilians. It reads:
“Several hundreds of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) assembled within the old and new ‘safety zones’ have died from artillery and air strikes by Sri Lanka military. The civilian targets hit by hundreds of artillery and motor shells, more than 300 people have died and several hundreds are bleeding to death within one day on 26th of January.” Her claim that several hundreds died is preposterous. On the basis of such a claim there would be no need for medical persons and volunteers to offer their services not even such a facility as the free zone.
What Arush from Wales missed here was that if this be the case as she claims, the armed forces without any trouble would have pulverized the final LTTE barrier without caring a hoot or a whistle for the fate of the civilians held hostage by the ruthless Tigers. This war would have been over weeks, if not months ago.
Arush from Wales also takes a sweeping swipe at India, US, UK and certain other countries for being supportive as she alleges to Sri Lanka. There is today a global revulsion against terrorism and even this morning Sri Lankan cricketers had a miraculous escape in Lahore, Pakistan from a band of terrorists.
We believe hiding like a coward in a deep bunker in Pudukudiyiruppu the global Godfather of terrorism who alone has been the one responsible for the genocidal track that was laid against the Tamils.
Arush from Wales seem unable to understand and appreciate this truth. This writer has no idea of her background or where she originally came from and whether she is an ex-Sri Lankan but it is evident from her writing that she admires the LTTE brand of terrorism that had no wish to serve the interests of the Tamils. It had an agenda of its own and that has failed and the Tamils have paid an enormous price.
On the other hand those who left Sri Lanka and made their homes in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England and a few other western countries claiming refuge blaming Tiger terror in Sri Lanka have done well for themselves by raising funds claiming as support for Tamil liberation in Sri Lanka.
Most such people within a matter of ten years, having gone to these countries literally penniless are now living in posh mansions, drive luxury cars and fly first class on their frequent intercontinental flights. Thanks are to the Tigers and the Kalaivaanis created to canvas funds in the name of Tamil liberation. Ironically, Tamil liberation will eventually come from the Sinhalese people and not from Arush of Wales and those of her breed that support terrorism.

A few months back, Arush from Wales was posting military advise/analysis for the Tigers. He was predicting the demise of the SLA and perpetuating the properganda of the Tiger "strategic withdrawal". In addition, he was making comparisons to Stalingrad and predicting an imminent comeback for the Tigers.
If anyone cared to notice, this armchair quarterbacking is done from Wales with obviously no clue of the ground situation. This is another parrot who is trying to protect his wine drinking western lifestyle at the expense of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka.
The Tamil diaspora is the biggest curse of the Tamil people of Sri Lanka.
