Sivasambo: A Rip van Winkle wakes up!

Reflections of a Diasporantian Dinosaur

(March 22, New Delhi, Sri Lanka Guardian) The feature India has last laugh by Sridas Sivasambo is an invaluable reflection of a Diasporantian Dinosaur. Evidently Sridas Sivsambo comes from a circumstance where time stopped still some five decades ago and he has just woken from a Rip van Winkle slumber having had a dream of some sorts.

He talks about gun point voting in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, government henchmen and quislings and evidently imagines that the real people whom he knew half a century ago or even more are in bad shape. It is clear that all the information he has comes from such fraudulent sources like Tamilnet and other Tiger propaganda organizations. Is he trying to say that the pro-LTTE TNA Members of Parliament in the areas under LTTE control were elected freely and fairly?

During the time of the elections it was a known factor non-LTTE people were chased away from voting booths at gun point by the Tigers and there were also large scale impersonation and stuffing of ballot boxes by the LTTE. These incidents were reported by foreign observers as well.

Wake up Mr Sivasambo, the guns that you talk are now trained at your own people who are trying to flee from the Tigers. The atrocities you talk about are committed by the very people, rather the killer monsters, who talk about liberating the Tamils and those who are giving sustenance to the Tamils are the very people against whom you have loaded up so much venom in your wake up call.

The very lingua franca of the Tigers is based on words of violence, hate, anger, arrogance, demand, hostility, threats interspersed with nasty and filthy and squalid phrases. Every senior in the Tiger hierarchy addresses those under them as the offspring of whores. Every solution they seek is death and devastation. How can you waking up from your slumber from your comfortable double-spring king, imply these guys as heroes of liberation?

You certainly must be living in one of the countries that took you and your people as refugees. You seem a total stranger to Sri Lanka even more to your people who have been terrorized by your so-called liberators for over 35 years. They killed all your leaders.

While your people were being brutalized, you and your people have been having a great time defrauding your new homelands practicing all kinds of frauds. If you are familiar with Canada for instance, you would have heard of LTTE networks there that became a curse. May be you would have heard about the Tamil Eelam Society in Toronto and how it milked millions of dollars from the Government of Ontario under some pretext or other. Those who controlled this organization merely enriched themselves.

Do you know what is happening in Sri Lanka now? Thousands are now rising against the Tigers and let us give some idea of it with some pictures. We understand you have been a Trincomalee resident before you fled the Tigers from Sri Lanka.

We are sure you are aware that many Tamil civilians shot at by the Tigers when they tried to flee from them have been admitted to the hospital in Trincomalee by the volunteers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and are in good care.

So Mr Sivasambo, if you are living in comfort somewhere in the west, go back to sleep and have a second innings of Rip Van Winkle. The Sri Lanka you have in your horror dreams does not exist. The real Sri Lanka will soon become a country where all the people will live in peace and amity.

The pictures illustrated here show how thousands of people are rising against the Tigers in Jaffna and daily their numbers are growing to such an extent that those who are identified as having been or are part of the LTTE face the danger of being lynched and it is the security forces that may have to give them protection.
