Canadian Outrage: Genocide and a 7-year old

(March 20, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardain) Toronto Monday March 16, 2009 was another one of those days chosen by the Pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora to flex their muscles for the Great Eelam Cause. A working day was chosen instead of Saturday or Sunday to attract the greatest possible attention, at the greatest possible nuisance to perpetrate the greatest possible fraud – The Genocide.

This was supposed to be a demonstration to highlight genocide against the Tamils, their kith and kin in Sri Lanka who have long ceased to be of any concern to them. The organizers of the demonstration are highly thrilled that the Canadian Police have been quite accommodating to them. They have now decided to organize a series of demonstrations with the Tiger flag in lead beginning with one in Ottawa.

What is actually happening in Sri Lanka is just the opposite. Those who are following the tragic events in that island country are aware that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are holding as human shield thousands of Tamils from the Wanni in sheer desperation to save themselves when just about everything they had professed the last three decades and a half at gun point has been lost. Their conviction that they could force a ceasefire has evaporated totally.

If as claimed by the Canadian Pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora has an element of truth about genocide against the Tamils in Sri Lanka, the country’s Armed Forces could have gone through and finished their operations long ago. Isn’t that what George Bush, Dick Cheyney and co have been doing in Iraq?

Human Shield weapon has been used by the LTTE over the years in various forms; there is a variety of them from provoking the security forces to attack civilian population to uprooting communities, herding them up and the cowardly LTTE cadres hiding among them to escape the armed forces.

What is happening in Wanni now is the most intolerable ultimate ruthlessness of laying thousands of people, elders and children included, to the risk of carnage and worse, this is what this most brutal terror organization wishes to happen. Sadly for them, it is not happening.

There is no doubt this is exactly what the Toronto demonstrators are also hoping and praying for supported by information pre-canned to give an impression that what is happening in Sri Lanka is genocide against the Tamils.

Despite demands from international organizations that the civilians must be allowed to go free, the LTTE has ignored such appeals with contempt. Despite the demand that the LTTE lays its arms down and surrender, this has been like blowing the conch shell at the deaf man’s ears. If civilians try to escape from the clutch of what is left of the desperate bunch of the LTTE cadres, they are shot at their back.

These desperate men force many of the civilians to take up arms and protect them inevitably as gun fodder. The areas that the Government of Sri Lanka have ascribed as Free Fire Zone to enable the civilians to be safer and to be given a chance to escape have been appropriated by the LTTE cadres and bunkers have been hurriedly built forcing the civilians at gun point to slave endlessly to their commands.

At one point, in a desperate attempt to escape, three hundred civilians were forced to move ahead at the dead of night. Thereafter, quite stealthily some Tiger cadres heavily armed moved in their shadows. The Armed Forces were too smart for them. With the help of laser electronic devices that detected the metal in the arms, they got the Tiger cadres and enabled the civilians to escape unharmed.

Newspersons accompanying the forces are reporting to the entire population of Sri Lanka how determined the army personnel are to rescue the Tamils even at great risks to them. Naval and Army personnel have specially qualified people to take care of Tamil civilians who are injured or need help to escape the Tiger terror. They take care of infants and children in particular and rush them to safe areas.

There is no doubt that the entire country is very concerned and wants the people held as human shields saved. This is a war that could have been finished in a few hours with every Tiger cadre killed but for the Armed Forces, acting loyally and faithfully under the orders of President Mahinda Rajapakse, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and his government this is a very patient and extremely hazardous waiting game.

They want every civilian saved. Is there any doubt about it except for those who have built up a powerful network of shady underworld enterprise in various parts of the world?

Terrorism would be rooted out of Sri Lanka in a matter of days but Tiger terrorism has gathered roots in countries like Canada, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, and Norway and in some South and Southeast Asian countries too. If these countries are not careful, what ends in Sri Lanka will take roots in these countries.

Canada in particular must watch out and already a new tax on Tamils in Canada has been spelled out by the Tiger Underworld to enable to re-group and become an eternal menace. One should be aware of what happened in Lahore!

A leading Sri Lankan cricketer talking to his colleagues in India said that what happened in Lahore could happen in Canada and cricket authorities must consider Canada as one of the risky countries to play cricket. Sri Lanka especially must be wary of Tiger terror attacks if they play in Canada.

He further said if the Canadian Police can allow a Tiger demonstration with Tiger flags and all, ignoring the ban on the LTTE ordered by the country’s Federal Government, what guarantee is there that Sri Lankans can play cricket safe from terror attacks in Canada?

Last Monday during the demonstration which 90 percent of the public reflected was a terrible nuisance especially to have it on a working day, an example of the insensitiveness of the organizers, a Tamil lawyer Manuel Jesuthasan having won refuge in Canada averring that he fled from Tiger violence in Sri Lanka, asked a 7-year old a question that was broadcast on the pro-Tiger radio.

Since it was March Break holidays there were many children nearly all of them enjoying a picnic with a generous intake of burghers, pops and other delicacies as aptly described by Krishnalingam of the Canadian Tamil Broadcasting Corporation. Attorney Jesuthasan who should have known better, asked this 7-year old: “Why are you here?”

His answer was that he had come because Tamils are being killed by Sinhalese in Sri Lanka and there is genocide. Jesuthason then asked him, “What is genocide?”

The answer was, “I don’t know.”

Then the lawyer took his time to explain to the child that when the majority community kills the minority community as in Sri Lanka, it is genocide to a youngster who seemed more interested in burghers and fries and China-made toys that come with them.

We understand Jesuthasan is one of Toronto’s leading advocates of the LTTE cause and appears on a radio that has license only for multicultural activities, the CMR and not to propagate terrorism among the Tamils in Canada.

A Vahini Jeevakaran of Toronto who participated in the Toronto demonstration said that many women civilians have been raped and killed and so many have been brutally burned and massacred. This is the kind of information that is being propagated without any evidence whatsoever as to what really is happening in Sri Lanka. She should be careful about indulging in such serious and mischievous misinformation.

Has she not checked to find out how children are snatched away from families by the LTTE and young girls inducted into the suicide core? Among the pre-induction torturous rituals, they are raped by the Tiger handlers most ruthlessly. May be in her reckoning “Puli Anna” (Tiger elder brother) is entitled to this brutal privilege and everything from her. Usually girls of the coming of age group are the ones abducted for this purpose.



Even three days ago a young girl, just thirteen years old in the No Fire Zone, was snatched by the desperate Tiger cadres to take up arms. Despite her refusal and her parents’ begging her release, they dragged her even tearing off her dress virtually half-naked into one of the hastily built bunkers. People like Vahini Jeevakaran seem insensitive to such brutality against womanhood.



As for her burning the Tamils claim, one terrible incident that is often talked about was how Kiddu, Prabhakaran's deputy once upon a time, ordered petrol to be poured over a group of young chaps from another liberation group and got them burnt alive at the Tinnevely junction and all of them were from Batticaloa.

Their charred bodies were ordered to be on exhibition as a warning against others who dared to oppose the LTTE. So were all the bodies of those executed overnight by the Tigers at lamp posts following their kangaroo trials.

The Toronto demonstration is an example of how the Tiger mania is kept alive among the Tamil Diaspora most of who are in Canada because they fled from Tiger violence. Many enterprises in Canada are keyed to the Tiger network and it is very necessary to keep the LTTE alive in Sri Lanka for these interests to prevail and prosper.
