Canada’s Tiger gang sheds crocodile tears

Cricket is one where we can celebrate our Sri Lankaness and bond as friends and fellow citizens

(March 05, California , Sri Lanka Guardian) Pro-LTTE Tamil activists of Toronto have made a habit of demonstrating against the Sri Lankan Cricket Team whenever they have been in this region of the world from the Caribbean to Canada. At the last World Cup, there was an unsavoury pro-LTTE demonstration by one guy who flew all the way from Canada to Caribbean to show off his stand for the kind of terror politics LTTE practices. When the Sri Lankans played at King City, even a small aircraft was chartered to spit foul defiance on the team.

Yet Dr David Poopalapillai, the arch-angel of Prabhakaran politics in Canada shed a lot of crocodile tears for the Sri Lankan team, victims of a vicious terrorist attack in Lahore. It was not necessary for him to dance this tune having shown all these time his hostile antipathy and hatred to anything Sri Lankan and especially to Sri Lanka’s finest ambassadors today in the world.

Wherever our cricketers go they are admired for the manner in which they carry themselves. Even on occasions, when firmness was needed, they showed their mettle and Umpire Hair will never ever forget what our cricketers are capable of, if one is rather ‘uncricketingly’ funny. The cricket grounds offered one of the finest fields where Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and others could celebrate together our Sri Lankaness and nourish our bonds as people of Sri Lanka.

South Asia unfortunately is being plagued by terrorism of all kinds and the vicious attack on the Sri Lankan team could have come from one of many terrorist groups. It is unwise to speculate on any one group without being absolutely sure as to who really could have done this foul deed. Terrorists have no rules of decency or honour and any one group could have done it, even the LTTE or on its behalf, one of its partners in Pakistan or Northwest Frontier.

But there is one thing we can be sure and of that let there be no doubt. All forms of terrorism must be rooted out and no mercy should be shown to any force practicing it and any groups or individuals advocating, supporting or nourishing terrorism in any form. There is hardly any doubt people like Dr Poopalapillai have been active supporters of terrorism in Sri Lanka as a political vehicle. There are more of his ilk both in Canada and the USA practicing the terrorist culture and impacting the same on our young people as well.

They have raised millions of dollars not only to support terrorism in Sri Lanka but also to self-corrupt themselves with these funds exploiting their own people. This has the dire effect on their children and their peers aiding them to accept that it is alright to practice deceit and deception. This is a form of terrorism too and mansions in Markham bear witness to this activity.

There is a young peoples’ pro-LTTE group in Toronto that has named itself using the foul 4-letter word as a prefix to the name of their organization that indicates how they want to treat President Mahinda Rajapakse. Many of them of this 600 or above youngsters are in the universities and active supporters of the LTTE. Could they have not thought of a more decent name? How shallow, vicious and foolish can they be? This type goes against our very cultural heritage too.

Little do these people realize how precious university education is to our own young people in Sri Lanka. LTTE’s roots go back to how this terror group brainwashed those attending tuition centres from a positive yearning to the negative foulness of terror politics. How can such young people develop admiring a killer who could not/would not accept or appreciate possible solutions that came along the way to the ethnic crisis?

Just two days ago a group held a fond memorial meeting for the two Tiger airmen who perished as suicide bombers in Colombo flying their tiny aircraft. What is the meaning of this sympathy tamasha? Is this not a kind of terrorism propaganda?

How is that none of these Toronto demonstrators never had the guts to demand from the LTTE to free the hostages? They only want the Tigers to be spared so that they can rise again and continue to take heavy toll on the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

People like David Poopalapillai have been principally responsible for twisting and contorting the minds of Tamil young people and polluting them with terrorist ideologies and in the process laying the seeds that can have dire consequences in Canada.

LTTE has created a massive underworld industry of global proportions. Involved in these are various terror groups that are active in alien smuggling, arms running and drugs pedaling. Credit card fraud is one of these activities and there are some young Sri Lankans active in this kind of fraud. There is no denying there is a terror link that affects South Asia and the LTTE is definitely a part of it.

In other words, in any kind of terrorist activity in South Asia, the LTTE too is a part of it even if it is not involved in anyway in the attack in Lahore on the Sri Lankan cricketers. It naturally follows that if we take care of terrorism and bring that to an end, such events will hardly occur, if ever.
