Special school for displaced children

(February 03, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Education Ministry officials have established a temporary school for the children who are living in the Manik Farm IDP camp in Vavuniya.

The new school was established for the benefit of the fleeing children to provide them with an education said Ms. P. R. A. Oswald, Zonal Education Director of the Vavuniya District.

There are classes from Grade one to twelve, the director added.

Education officials of the area have taken measures to get the service of the displaced teachers and other volunteers to teach the students.

Sri Lanka Army in cooperation with the Ministry of Resettlement and Rehabilitation is providing all the facilities and necessary equipment for the students.
