Obama the black man will not change the colour of the White House

(February 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Obama mania after his nomination as presidential candidate of the Democratic party and after his election as president is unprecedented in the history of the United States. No US president has received such publicity. The expectations of the people in the United States in fact the whole world is incomprehensible. Barrak Hussein Obama with much hype has been elevated to the status of a Messiah, Avatar or even of a Prophet by the media.. In fact, those with discernment are appalled at the naiveté of the unintelligent media personnel who regularly portray Obama as an infallible demi-god. Other than having the distinction of being the first black politician to be elected as a president of the United States, nothing in his record justifies the panegyrics and publicity he has received.

Like all politicians in the much vaunted so called democratic system, slogan or slogans mostly lies count a lot in the propaganda campaign. Obama’s slogan was a singular word “change.” However as far as his foreign policy is concerned there is no room for change. In fact the US ambassador in Sri Lanka Robert Blake on the announcement of the election of Obama to presidency boldly and unequivocally announced that there would be no change in US foreign policy. Perhaps the best rejoinder to the word “ change” came from Iran’s president Ahmadinejad who said “ If you talk about change, you must put an end to the US military presence in the world, withdraw your troops and take them back to your borders. The US should stop interfering in other peoples affairs.” He also said “ America had stood against the Iranian people for the past 60 years, those who speak of change must apologies to the Iranian people and try to repair their crimes.”

Statement from the US administration claims that the US military presence in Afghanistan is to increase by 30,000 more troops. The policy in the Middle- East will remain unchanged with a pro-Israel stand with Obama obliging himself to help defend Israel, providing them with cluster bombs depleted uranium weapons and phosphorous bombs in addition to tanks, sophisticated planes and other state-of-the-art weapons. Obama received a huge amount of funds from the Israel American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobby (AIPAC) for his election campaign. Before the election he visited the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, wore a white Jewish skull-cap and prayed there. He then promised to hand over an undivided Jerusalem to the Israelis. Obama politically transformed himself into an Israel hardliner and assailed Iran, vowed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, which it has consistently denied and pledged to maintain Israel’s qualitative military edge against all rivals in its neighbourhood. “I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons,” he pledged, but for obvious reasons did not make any reference to the stockpile of Israel nuclear weapons, the only country the middle-East with nukes.

Obama will continue financial aid to Israel, currently Israel is the largest single beneficiary of US aid amounting an average of over $ 3.1 billion annually of which $ 1.9 billion in military aid and $ 1.2 billion in economic aid. Obama has also appointed several hard – line pro- Israel persons in his administration.

In other areas, the US has failed to halt North Korea in obtaining nuclear. weapons North Korea has rejected negotiations conducted by the Bush administration and how Obama handles this vexed problem remains to be seen. There are noises that the economic embargo on Cuba will be lifted so far nothing conclusive has been done. In Somalia, Islamic forces have once again taken power driving away the US and Ethiopian backed transitional government. The US has been proved impotent in Somalia once again. Will Obama send more troops to Somalia ? in Kyrgyzstan the US air base has been closed.

History has proved that the US has been at war from Latin America to Vietnam to attain its selfish goals. In the last sixty Years its imperial mania to subjugate other countries is insatiable. In fact its foreign policy is always designed to promote war. In the recent past the US attacked Iraq for no good reason occupied Afghanistan, threatened Syria and Iran attacked Lebanon by proxy, bombed Somalia and Pakistan and put troops in Philippines to hunt Muslims. The US is looking for trouble with Venezuela, threatening North Korea, moving to “contain” China, embargoing Cuba, pushing into Central Asia, increasing its military budget, provoking Russia and the Pentagon now has Africom an African Command to destabilize Africa.
This power project is on account of the military- industrial complex, corporate multi-nationals, the powerful Jewish lobby and their capital, that really runs and implements the policy of the US government. They are all hell-bent to achieve “full spectrum dominance.” It is in the blood of US politicians to be imperialist if not neo-imperialist. Obama the black man cannot change the colour of the White House. He will do as his masters tell him to. So all the monumental hype in favour of him is but trash, only fools will believe it.
