UPFA says confident of PC poll victory

(January 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The UPFA on today (Thursday ) vowed that it would win the February 14 provincial elections in the Central and North Western provinces with a bigger margin than it won the three previous provincial elections held last year.

SLFP General Secretary minister Maithripala Sirisena told a news conference in Colombo that the campaign for the elections had already commenced and President Mahinda Rajapaksa would be addressing a series of campaign meetings.

He said that the UNP had field a strong list of candidates and have found it difficult to find good candidates and therefore would suffer the same fate as in the past provincial elections.

He said they would be campaigning on the theme of “RATA SURAKINA STATANA RAKIMU’ ( PROTECT THE BATTLE THAT SAVES THE NATION). - Sri Lanka Guardian
