Thirumavalavan must appeal to supporters to allow him to fast unto death peacefully!

(January 19, Coimbatore, Sri Lanka Guardian) Viduthalai Chirithai Puligal’s frontsman, Thol Thirumavalavan’s political “thadugina-thom-thom” as was evidently planned as a drama to cater to his own political fortunes will soon come to an end. Arrangements were readied for an honourable calling off even before the fast was begun. Under no circumstances, he is going to the ultimate.

This is a typical South Indian movie style farce, the hallmark of Tamilnadu politics.

If he was planning on such a fast as a genuine effort to seek a solution in Sri Lanka that he is campaigning for, he would have made sure that it was on the Gandhian lines of ahimsa. The whole demonstration would have been peaceful and of a nature where the powers that be in New Delhi and Colombo will take note seriously. Fasting is a divine demonstration and not a sham and more particularly for a man who advocates terrorism in Sri Lanka.

What he has succeeded in releasing is violence in some parts of Tamilnadu where his so-called party cadres and militants have taken to stoning public transport vehicles and setting them ablaze, robbing conductors and other related violence. This is totally unacceptable. Furthermore, the very name he has for his group, Freedom Leopards is a Prabhakaran copycat module for whatever political activities he may have in mind to inflict on the people southern India. He is certainly the Prabhakaran proxy in India.

We don’t want any of that in India.

He cannot sell the people of India for Canadian dollars for his kitty.

He must know that the problem is in Colombo and not in Tamilnadu. It is evil to bring the Tamilnadu people into this mess in the manner he seeks and that goes for Gopalaswamy and other Lilliputian politicians of this state too.

It is not good for Tamilnadu politicians to get emotional in this manner and further embitter the Sinhalese extremists against the Sri Lankan Tamils. Furthermore, people like Thirumavalavan, Gopalaswamy, Ramdoss and Nedumaran are third rate nuisance politicians in Tamilnadu who can team up with any party any time depending on the political winds in that state. They only seek their own fortunes fooling the Tamilnadu voters.

These politicians are active to some extent because of the Tamil question in Sri Lanka; without it they would have disappeared long ago. It is therefore important at this juncture for New Delhi to take a strong stand against these political irritants before all kinds of unruly elements seize this chance to create a state of unruliness in Tamilnadu.

In this respect nothing much can be expected from the state’s chief minister, M Karunanidhi, a bulwark opportunist politician. His eyes are on the forthcoming general elections and the fortunes of his own family members especially the two sons and his daughter.
