‘Resolution on Lanka disappointing’

(January 24, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) ‘The resolution passed in the State Assembly over the Lankan issue today (Jan 23) is disappointing’, said PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss.

Speaking to reporters here, the PMK leader said, ‘it is the problem of not one political party. Rather, the government should convene an all-party meeting and arrive at the next course of action after discussions and deliberations’.

Ramadoss, who has been voicing strong views over the ethnic strife in the neighbouring island nation, said, ‘ it is very disappointing since the resolution doesn’t set any deadline for the Centre for act’.

‘The issue should not be discussed at the general council meeting of a party. It is a problems for Tamils and not confined to any one individual or political party’, he said.

‘The DMK need not lose its power or be toppled from governance over the issue. All those political parties who share common ideologies can join hands and come together and pressure the Centre to act swift over the issue.’

Giving a clean chit to the LTTE, Ramadoss said, branding them as terrorists is not right. They have been fighting for the cause of Lankan Tamils.
