Reason to condemn Lt. Gen. Fonseka

We Srilankans of all communities have a very valid reason to condemn Lt.Gen.Fonseka

For a very simple reason for baptizing Tamil Nadu politicians particularly Mr.Vaiko and Mr.Nedumaran as Jokers.

(December 13, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) As an Army General who plans for a combat mission definitely will know what the enemy stands for, his strength, weakness, ability, capability, cadre’s strength, firepower, ammunition stocks and supply, supply routes, reinforcement, so on and so forth. To win a war and to defeat an enemy a proper planning is the most necessary one. Without a proper plan no army in the world can win a battle. When we are on field even an ordinary soldier knows he has to fight with all his strength to defeat his enemy. We never need to start an unnecessary one, but if imposed or declared it’s our duty to win by all means.

In my conclusion, Lt.Gen. Fonseka has never made a proper plan before he attacked his enemies in Tamil Nadu and also without valuing their strength. and most of all, at a wrong time. In today war the timing plays an important and a vital role for winning a war. We cannot start a war though we have a solid reason behind us and do have strength. In history small regiments have made victories due to perfect timing and large and mighty armies have been defeated due to wrong timings. In this situation, we are in a position to convince Tamil Nadu politicians and get their support, which is far most important at this juncture. Though we defeat LTTE militarily, Tamil Nadu may become the sanctuary for LTTE leaders and carders after we capture Kilinochchi and Mullaitheevu. There is a great danger they may start guerilla warfare with Srilanka, which happened in the eighties. Therefore it’s of paramount important that we need the support of Tamil Nadu politicians. We should also take into consideration not all parties in Tamil Nadu are supporting the Terrorist outfit. The central government of India’s ruling party the Congress party and its state wing is bitterly against to LTTE and the major state political party which is headed by Ms.J.Jayalalitha is one of the major political force in Tamil Nadu is a strong opposer of LTTE. The communist party of India (Marxist) has clearly stated it’s not supporting LTTE and will not but supporting a political settlement to the island Tamil issue. Mr.Nedumaran is neither a political force nor a man who has support base in Tamil Nadu politics. Mr.Vaiko has some political base, which we have to acknowledge but he is not a deciding factor in Tamil Nadu politics for sure. Mr.Ramadoss and Mr.Thirumal valavan are same like Mr.Vaiko.

Everything will change if Ms.J.Jayalalitha becomes the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu and not LTTE even its supporters won’t be able to walk in the streets of Tamil Nadu.

At the same time we also understand the nature of pressure that comes from Tamil Nadu to the central government which is unavoidable due to strong ties of cultural and language links between Tamils in both countries.Therefore we Srilankans have to handle this situation very carefully and should try to win as much as politicians in Tamil Nadu. Though Srilanka a Sovereign country which has it every right to choose its own way, we have to also keep in mind, that external powers might hinder our success in our fight against terrorism. Whether we accept it or not we have to see that Tamil Nadu should not go in favor of Terrorist. India, a country also affected by Terrorism and most recent incidents in Mumbai has a clear indication of Indians turning against Terrorist and Terrorism. Therefore we should be cleaver enough to make use of this situation and create a support base for our cause instead spoiling it. We should be also taking notice though India is not a heavy supplier of arms to Srilanka, we may not win this war without their intelligence input. India was the first country to ban LTTE and their Diplomatic influence made banning LTTE in U.S, Canada, European Union and other countries. A single rose never becomes a garden and therefore we need friends to fight this war against this cruel terrorist outfit.

As a conclusion, we all know that Jokers make people laugh. But the so-called jokers whom Lt.Gen.Fonseka mentions are making our entire Nation to cry. Therefore if Lt.Gen

Called these bunch of politicians as Supporters of Murderers and Supporters of Terrorism

I will Salute him. Lt.General should choose the right word for right people were he missed to use the appropriate word. Even then I salute for his courage to stand up for Srilanka. In this issue there is a great lesson to be learnt by all Srilankans. The chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Karunanidhi has very strongly condemned the statement of Lt.Gen.Fonseka and spoke in support of his arch rivals and political enemies. In his own words he said, "Leaders criticising one another in Tamil Nadu is different but we cannot accept someone from outside the country saying such things about our leaders," Is it not a clear message to us that we need to defend our leaders irrespective of different political difference when criticism is aimed at our country and political leaders? Just for the same reason I whole heartedly support Lt.Gen.Fonseka. If not we, who then will ? - Sri Lanka Guardian
