President returns



(December 05, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to the island today (05) after a successful official visit to Turkey.

During his visit President Rajapaksa held bilateral talks with President of Turkey Abdulla Gul aand the Turkish business community.

Several agreements concerning bilateral relations were signed between the two countries during the visit. both leaders agreed to work together in combatting terrorism.

Meanwhile President Rizanur Meral of the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) announced at the Joint Sri Lanka and Turkey Business Forum in Istanbul yesterday (4) that the two countries have set a target of $1 billion in trade over the next three to four years. He also expressed hope of sending a Turkish trade delegation to Sri Lanka early next year.
