O Come Let Us Adore Him…..him!

“O come all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant!
O come ye O come ye to…

Melodious refrain in harmonizing voices
Trained for months and long late hours
Accompanied by the musical professionals
With electric, wind and string instruments
The thought of the service of carols
Speeded my high-heel footed paces.

“Away in a manager,
no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus
laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
looked down where He lay,..”

On the tobacco spitted muddy pavement
Exterior to the boundary wall of the chapel
With only the upper part of the chest covered
And nude that the private parts were exposed
With the face masked with slimy film of sputum
Lying, was this unconscious, young naked

“Good tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Good tidings of comfort and joy…”

The teenage girls avoided, ‘cause they felt embarrassed’
The pedestrians pretended, as if he existed not!
The pathetic sight of him induced my heart’s cry
That reduced my steps, which came to a halt!
“Right about turn” was the command of my mind
“To pick up something to cover the naked orphan lad
“O come, O come Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here…”

My persuasion caught the attention of my foster son
With my husband’s brand new sarong in my hand
We raced to the spot to cover the nameless lad
But to see a banner had already shrouded the nude
It said “Merry Christmas” and Happy New Year!”
The message on the banner was the peak of irony!

“Hark the herald angles sing,
“Glory to the new born King
Peace on earth and mercy mild…”
