Karu appointed as Deputy Leader of UNP

(December 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The UNP’s Working Committee today appointed Karu Jayasuriya as the Deputy leader of the party while naming Mr. Rukman Senanayaka as the Assistant Leader and Gamini Jayawickrema Perera as the Party Chairman, party General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka told the Media.

The Working Committee meeting was presided over by party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who proposed Jayasuirya’s name and the name was unanimously approved, he said.

He said that Mr. Jayasuriya was due to resign from the government.

Mr. John Amaratunga was appointed as Senior Advisor of the party at the same meeting. - Sri Lanka Guardian
