(December 05, Atlanta, Sri Lanka Guardian) While we were at Palali AirPort this July, we met with a remarkable individual from Sri Lankan Army , 8SLE (52 Div). A man who had serviced the country for 10 years with the Army and a man whose father had become handicapped while serving as a home guard. This Corp. Premadasa S.N.T from Kebbitigollawa had a sad story to tell us. (Read our previous story)

In 2004, he got married and had his first child. However, he soon learnt that his

Beautiful baby daughter N.T Nethmi Upeka is affected with Thalassacmnia Major. This was a huge shock for his little family.

Today, doctors have recommended a particular medical device that cost around 1000 US dollars that needs to be brought from Canada. The cost of this machine now is a burden of the Premadasa family.

We in Sri Lanka Guardian published a request from Sri Lankan expat community to lend a helping hand to cop. Premadasa. At that moment of need, Sri Lankan expat patriot Rodney Fernando, a devoted catholic and a national soccer player and patriot Lalith Mahakumbura from Paris came forward to support the Premadasa family by sending R.S 50 000 for the purchase of necessary equipment.

Now the necessary equipment - portable Infusion Pump is with the Anuradapura hospital. This will not only serve Corp. Premadasa's daughter but many other Thallassacmnia victims in future.

A special thank must be given to Dr. Himali Wijesighe of Anuradhapura hospital and Manoj Senewirathne of Hemas Drugs who coordinate the humanitarian effort from Sri Lanka.

These people mentioned in this article are real heroes and patriots of Sri Lanka. We at Sri Lanka Guardian salute their motivation and determination to serve the motherland and bring a prosperous future for all Sri Lankan people.
