CM’s trip to Delhi put off?

(December 02, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) It seems that the attack on Mumbai will have a different kind of impact on Tamilnadu. For, sources say that the trip of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to New Delhi along with all-party members to pressurise the Centre on the Lankan issue will be postponed owing to the changing political climate in the capital following the terror attack.

Instead of the originally scheduled 4 December trip, it is said that Karunanidhi would meet Prime Minister M Karunanidhi at a later date.

An all-party meeting convened by the Chief Minister on 25 November had resolved to send two delegations to Delhi to urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to prevail upon the Lankan government to stop ‘the attacks on Tamils’ in the island nation.

Initially, it was decided to send the first delegation comprising Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Tamilnadu on 28 November.

Later, it was postponed to 2 December due to heavy rains that lashed the State. However, it was again cancelled following the terror attack in Mumbai.

The second delegation of all-party leaders led by Karunanidhi himself would hold talks with Manmohan Singh in the capital on 4 December, a resolution passed at the all-party meet read.
