No Air Traffic to Bangkok



(November 27, Bangkok, Sri Lanka Guardain) Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, the main International Airport in Thailand, has closed its operation since Wednesday, 26th November 2008 early morning after the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and anti-government protesters entered the passenger terminal. Bangkok’s main domestic airport, Don Muang, was also closed early Thursday, 27th November as the authorities feared that protesters might damage aircraft.

However, Bangkok Metropolitan areas are not affected and people are attending to their routine work. So far , foreigners in Thailand are not targeted but the potential remains for them to caught up in the violence.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Bangkok is making arrangements for Sri Lankans who are stranded in Bangkok to leave Thailand via alternate routes.
