(November 25, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Leader of Democratic People’s Front, and Convener of Civil Monitoring Commission, Mano Ganesan, MP, on his return from Canada bitterly criticized the Sri Lankan Counsel General in Toronto for fabricating a story on his visit to Canada in Sri Lankan Defence Ministry’s website--Defense.lk.
"Bandula Jayasekara, the Sri Lankan Counsel General in Toronto cooked up this story and got it loaded in the defense.lk on Thursday 20, 2008”, he said in a press release
Jayasekara's story also said that a ‘large number of Lankan Tamils living in Canada’ sent emails to Oshawa University and got this ‘meeting' canceled.
"This is laughable when the only repeated complains to me in Canada was that I did not stay longer more than six days," Mano Ganesan said adding that he was given a warm welcome by the diaspora Tamils in Canada.

Lankan Counsel General in Toronto Bandulla Jayasekara stands exposed shamelessly by his fabricated story posted in the defense ministry’s website. The fallacious tale says that I was to attend a LTTE sponsored meeting at University of Oshawa in Toronto on 18 November Tuesday when I was actually at meetings with Canadian federal foreign ministry officials and Hamilton East-Stoney Parliamentarian Hon. Wayne Marston miles away in Ottawa on the identical day says Civil Monitoring Commission Convener Mano Ganesan. Parliamentarian Ganesan who returned to Colombo from Canada on 21st afternoon said further in his statement,

I do not need to deny this fabrication of defense ministry and Lankan Consulate General in Toronto as this stupid falsehood fell flat before it got any consideration. On the very day referred in the cooked-up story I held discussions with Canadian Federal Foreign Affaires and Trade officials at the Canadian Foreign ministry’s Pearson building in Ottawa. Canada’s South Asian Director Jim Nickel, Deputy Director Peter Fawcett and Desk Officer for Sri Lanka Andrew Ng participated in this meeting with me in the morning. I met Member of Canadian Parliament for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek Hon. Wayne Marston on the same day evening at his office situated in the west block of Canadian House of Commons. Therefore the authors of this story stand exposed with their politically motivated dishonest conduct in the eyes of the international community loosing any credibility left.
My meetings in Ottawa on Tuesday 18th November were arranged in advance well before I arrived in Canada. Bandulla Jayasekara and the editors of the defense website cannot imagine that I would travel thousands of miles all the way from Sri Lanka and go to Ottawa, the federal capitol for official meetings without confirmation of schedules.
I was invited to Canada by the Canadian Forum for Justice and Peace in Sri Lanka convened by Mr. Jim Davis and Mr.S.Loganathan. The name of the forum speaks for itself. It is a Canadian organization dedicated for the protection of human rights and equality of all Sri Lankan ethnic groups. I participated as a guest speaker in the meeting titled as ‘Ending the war and bringing justice and peace to Sri Lanka’ in Toronto at the Steelworkers Union hall on 16th Sunday. The meeting was moderated by Khaled Mouammar, president of Canadian Arab Federation. Co speakers with me were Ms. Amina Sherazee, Barrister and Human Rights Activist and Professional Lawyer and Activist Mr. Rocco Galati and Co-Convener of the Forum Mr. Jim Davis. I know nothing about any other meeting.
