LTTE Feeling the Heat of Defeat

(November 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Nadesan the LTTE terrorist is again in the headlines of Tamilnet. This time, he is appealing for a ceasefire for the umpteenth time. First, he tried playing the SAARC card for a ceasefire and failed. Tried writing to the UN requesting for a ceasefire, again failed. Then tried to push Tamilnadu to pressure India to intervene in Sri Lanka and call for a ceasefire, yet again failed.

Now he wants to remove Karunanidhi’s apprehensions (if he has any at all) that a ceasefire is not possible in Sri Lanka without the LTTE’s commitment. Voila!!!! No sooner than Karunanidhi utters this, Nadesan the terrorist is again seen here saying again that they are ever ready for a ceasefire, and Tamilnet promptly publishes it as headlines.

In other words, the LTTE’s inability to resist the State forces’ advance and their imminent, humiliating defeat is thus reflected in bold letters in the Tamilnet by way of Nadesan’s bogus ceasefire readiness claim for the umpteenth time. However, he does not say anything about accepting the Government’s pre-conditions for such, i.e., accepting defeat and laying down arms and giving up the call for an Elam, separating the country. Nadesan himself, not a long time ago, told Tamilnet that the only solution for the war is conceding Tamil Elam and nothing short of that. More interestingly, Nadesan’s terrorist boss, Prabakaran, had the audacity to say recently to a Tamilnadu newspaper that capturing killinochchi is only a day dream of the Sri Lankan President.Thus, the LTTE’s objectives are quite obvious no matter what gimmick they want to play to hoodwink us.

Therefore, it is plain obvious that the LTTE is on the knees before the victorious State armed forces. They have been battered as never before and no matter what the megalomaniac diabetic Prabakaran has to say to some newspaper, it is stark clear that the LTTE has been struck the death blow already. Does any one need proof for that? Read Nadesan’s regular pleadings for a ceasefire from the State. That should suffice.

What is clear is that the LTTE will be LTTE for as long as it will not cease to exist. It will kill innocent people, recruit children to fight wars and take legitimate governments hostage to win a mythical elam and separate the country. Their ideals have not changed and their objectives have not wavered. Most importantly, they are not ready to give up violence or arms at any point in search of a political solution. Prabakaran’s on and off rhetoric give ample proof to what he wants and what he expect to do. Thus, the government’s position should not waver too now. There should not be any ceasefire with the LTTE. The most important fact is that the victorious security forces be given the necessary time to restore the A32 land route to Jaffna and seal off the whole Western coast to the LTTE terrorists. In addition, they need to capture Paranthan and Killinochchi to render the LTTE paralyzed in its capacity to wage a successful war against the State anymore . That should be the priority now and the Government must facilitate that noble task. Let Nadesan cry and Prabakaran issue rhetoric after rhetoric to media from his bunker, but let them understand that they have almost lost their terror campaign for good now and the people of this land are not ready to give in to their behind the cover tactics to fool the masses anymore. - Sri Lanka Guardian
