(November 20, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) Troops advancing towards Paranthan, a LTTE stronghold captured one of the LTTE airstrips located in the Nivil area, Pooneryn today afternoon, the Defence Ministry said.
The airstrip is about 200m in length. The terrorists have demarcated a stretch of the B-69 Pooneryn-Parantan main road, which is also believed to be used as an emergency landing strip by the LTTE, military sources said.
