(November 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Speaking at a press conference today (27th Nov) Parliamentarian and SLFP (M) Convener Mangala Samaraweera stressed that the government is waging the war thus putting the lives of the military personals at great peril.
Adding further ,the parliamentarian stated that even thou hundreds of soldiers have been injured in the battlefield the government which has politicized the war to fulfill their dastard aims are concealing the true numbers.
He further added that the military personals fighting in the battlefield are not even provided with necessary war materials to face the threats; therefore he reiterated that it is best for the Army commander to focus on the issues in the battlefield rather than issuing political statements to media slinging mud at politicians in the opposition.
The Parliamentarian then focused his attention to the Eastern Province stated that even thou the government calls it the new found land of democracy it is fast transforming to a land of bloodbath he said citing the list of incidents that had caused violence in the province
Concluding his speech Mr. Samaraweera added that even thou he agrees that terrorism should be eradicated for creating a mayhem in the country for twenty odd years, he strongly believes that the ethnic issue of our country could only be solved through a political solution and urged the government to focus on that context in order to create an era in which all citizens could live with peace and amity in our motherland. - Sri Lanka Guardian
