"Civilians not affected in army campaign" President in Parliament

(November 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) "The army is fighting in the conflict areas without any disturbance to civilian life, specifically to hospitals, kovils, lakes and dams. Terrorist activities are getting weaker" , the President said during the presentation of the 2009 budget in parliament, today morning.
He urged the LTTE to lay down their arms and join mainstream politics.
President Mahinda Rajapaksha has started present the 2009 budget in Parliament today morning. This is the fourth budget presented by President Mahinda Rajapaksa after he was elected to office 2005.
The second reading of the budget will start tomorrow and continue till November 15. The final vote on the budget will be taken up in the House on December 8.- Sri Lanka Guardian
