V’kanth vows graft-free govt if voted to power

(October 19, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) DMDK president Vijayakanth has said, ‘tomorrow is ours so will be the 40 Assembly seats in the State’.

Speaking at a youth wing conference organised in connection with the fourth anniversary of the party at Island Grounds in Chennai last evening, the actor-turned politician said that DMDK was capable of making it since the party has now 27 per cent of the votes within just three years after launch.

‘Prepare yourselves for the Lok Sabha elections’, Vijayakanth called upon his party workers and said the party need not wait till the 2011 Assembly election to show its strength.

‘Our aim is to capture power and after achieving I won’t waste time by indulging in vengeful activities for it would affect my welfare activities for the people’, he added.

Coming down heavily on power cut prevailing in Tamilnadu, Vijayakanth
said he would find a solution to the power crisis in five months of him coming to power.

‘I won’t reveal the way to solve it for the idea would be copied or stolen away by the ruling DMK’, he said.

Also, he made a veiled attack on AIADMK for its inefficiency in taking necessary steps to anticipate the future needs of power.

On the Sri Lankan issue, he criticised the DMK that was seeking plum portfolios from the Central government.

‘If the DMK government had sought the help of the External Affairs Ministry, it could have easily solved the problems of the Sri Lankan Tamils’, he said.

Vijayakanth urged parties in Tamilnadu which are part of the UPA government to immediately withdraw their support. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the conference.

He asked his partymen to wear black badge from 19 October till a ceasefire was declared in Sri Lanka.

He also promised a corruption-free administration so that the people could live life in comfort.Earlier, the DMDK president Vijaykanth witnessed a massive rally from a special dais set up near the venue.
