Trade and Industrial Federation meets Minister Devananda

(November 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Representatives of Trade and Industrial Federation had a meeting with Minister Douglas Devananda and explained to him the involvement of the private sector to bring peace through their trade.

The representatives representing Mannar, Vavuniya and Jaffna District Trade Federations had this meeting with the Minister in his office at Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry.

They put forward several requests due to the problems faced by them, such as transport facilities and the obstacles faced by them in their industrial activities. They pointed out that the compartments of the North bound trains lack facilities and made a request to do the needful to replace with new compartments.

The other request was to operate a connected bus service for the train passengers from Madawachchi with a pilot vehicle with forces to avoid constant checking in several check points on the way even after the checking at Madawachchi, as the Passengers are undergoing immense difficulties in the check points by loading and unloading their bags and baggage. The time is also wasted unnecessarily, they explained.

The Minister patiently lent an ear to them and assured to take up the matters to relevant authorities and do the needful as soon as possible.
