Thumping GOSL, Winking at LTTE & the Domino Effect

“The civilian misery in the Wanni theatre is so high, there is no doubt about it and there is not even an iota of doubt that LTTE should take full responsibility for endangering the lives of their own kind. Is there any more pathetic act for a so-called liberation movement than hiding behind a crowd of people they are claiming to be the protectors and sole representatives?”

(October 13, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The war against Tamil Tiger terrorism in Sri Lanka has entered its last phase, observers opine around the world. Once so-called invincibility image of the LTTE, which was blown out of proportions by pro-LTTE trumpets, is now humiliatingly sagging with the calculated and well-coordinated politico-military assault the present GOSL has undertaken against the LTTE since two years ago. As the present status quo goes, the LTTE terrorists have lost huge numbers of their carder and are confined to a small territory with most of their supply routes being cut. As a result and as a last resort, the LTTE is again down to using the civilians as a human shield to save itself from annihilation.
There is no hiding of the fact that the LTTE is keeping the Wanni civilians from moving to safer areas controlled by the GOSL by force. They are reported to be driving the estimated 250000 civilians into places that they still control, away from GOSL-controlled areas, thereby blocking the civilian movement to safer places. Moreover, the LTTE is reported to have threatened the civilians against fleeing their territory and killing any civilian found to be disobeying their brutal order. Ample evidence to prove this can be found from the narratives given by the more fortunate civilian escapees who had been lucky enough to flee into the liberated areas and live to tell their story. These civilians (children, men and women) are deliberately used by the LTTE to fight the Sri Lankan defense forces in the front lines against their will. The are being kept by the LTTE in the firing line to use them both as bait and a human shield to save their last bit of territory from falling into the security forces’ hands.
The civilian misery in the Wanni theatre is so high, there is no doubt about it and there is not even an iota of doubt that LTTE should take full responsibility for endangering the lives of their own kind. Is there any more pathetic act for a so-called liberation movement than hiding behind a crowd of people they are claiming to be the protectors and sole representatives?
Simultaneously, another similar, if not more, deplorable act is put up by the bogus experts and analysts and human rights activists around the world. Even when it is clear that the LTTE is on the verge of being wiped out, they stick to one of their earlier predictions and keep up the GOSL bashing leaving out the LTTE to go on their business, save for an occasional veiled blame on them. There are two things that these pro-LTTE factions had always done and still keep doing and two things that they have decided that they would not do at all at this crucial hour of need of the LTTE.
They,
Repeat, as much as possible that, even at this stage, the LTTE can not be defeated militarily, as if one is muttering a mantra.
Take every possible opportunity to blame the GOSL unreservedly for fighting to eliminate the terrorists claiming that the GOSL is engineering a human catastrophe in the Wanni. As a solution, they suggest and, if and whenever possible, force the GOSL to stop the military operations forthwith.
Never declare that the LTTE is solely responsible for blocking the civilian movement out of the tWanni to safer areas. If you must do so, just barely mention it in passing and balance it with a bodily punch at the GOSL saying it is equally to blame.
Never organize powerful demonstrations, issue strong condemnations or write articles against the LTTE brutality of keeping a human shield. They never comprehensively demand from the LTTE to free the virtually imprisoned civilians from their barbaric clutches.
These four “Do’s & Don’ts” for the so-called human right activists, NGOs, INGOs and bogus experts, are all inter-connected. Any wrong move, they know that everything will fall like dominoes.
For example, if they are to do number 3 and number 4, and if indeed the LTTE will be compelled to release the civilians as a result, the time-tested argument in number 1 that the LTTE cannot be militarily defeated, would just ring hollow and, without the all important civilian cover, the LTTE infrastructure, assets and the leadership will be targeted and annihilated. If number 2 of the list thus becomes an unreal assessment, these bogus activists and organizations and freelance analysts would run out of the LTTE engineered human catastrophe carcasses in the Wanni to feed on and would, thus, lose the opportunity to blame everything on the GOSL.
By strictly adhering to the above list of Gospel commands, the NGO’s, INGOs, and all sorts of analysts, who are clamouring to find fault with the GOSL with allegations of inducing civilian misery in the Wanni, make sure that the GOSL gets a thorough beating at each step and the LTTE gets away with it without having to hear the death knell at all.
That is how they can make sure that their bogus prediction that the LTTE can not be militarily defeated would stay intact even at this desperate hour.
