Sri Lankan mission in Chennai Attacked by Pro-LTTE Students



(October 23, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) A group of pro-LTTE students pelted stones on the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission's office here, breaking glass panes of some windows, Tamil Nadu police commissioners office in Chennai stated.

Heavy reinforcements were rushed to the mission, which is situated about a kilometre away from the Poes Garden residences of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Leader of Opposition J. Jayalalitha, Tamil Nadu police officials added.

Nobody was reported to be hurt at the mission during the stone-pelting by pro-LTTE students. Over 20 students are believed to have been arrested by police and bundled into police vans.
