Sri Lanka expresses solidarity with Pakistan on the earthquake disaster


(October 31, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lanka has expressed its solidarity with the Government and the people of Pakistan over the widespread death and destruction caused by the massive earthquake which struck the Baluchistan Province.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rohitha Bogollagama in a message to the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has stated that Sri Lanka, while expressing heartfelt sympathy for those who have suffered in this disaster, supported all relief and rescue efforts of the Government of Pakistan. He has conveyed his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of those who have been affected by the earthquake.

Excellency,

I am deeply saddened to learn of the devastation caused by the massive earthquake that struck the Baluchistan province causing heavy human toll and widespread destruction to property.

Sri Lanka, while expressing heartfelt sympathy for those who suffered as a result of this earthquake, supports all the relief and rescue efforts of the Government of Pakistan.

Excellency, may I also take this opportunity to reiterate Sri Lanka’s solidarity with the Government and the people of Pakistan in their hour of need and express my sincere wishes for a speedy recovery.
