Rowdy mayhem in London theatre

LTTE men frustrate launch of Tamil film

(October 26, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The launch of the Tamil film of the film star Ajithkumar was abruptly ended when LTTE men went on a violent spree in the Wandsworth (South West London) based Cine-world Theatre.

The ‘Ehgan’ film of the Tamil Nadu film star Ajithkumar produced by Iynkaran distributors was officially launched at the Cineworld Theatre on 25 October 2008. The violent Tiger youngsters were shouting and screaming and they started to throw objects all over, precipitating the theatre staff to abruptly end the screening within few minutes of the launch.

The film stars Ajithkumar and Arjun have been targeted by the LTTE men for their expression of concern about the LTTE and their non engagement in the demonstration by the cinema stars in Tamil Nadu.

The independent Tamil web news neruppu.org claimed that the attack on the Iynkaran shop in London had taken place: ‘whilst the LTTE’s IBC radio is continuously reading the advertisement about the film’ in its satellite and medium wave service.
