Ramadoss pooh-poohs CM’s idea of telegrams

(October 06, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) It’s quite a long journey to find a solution to the ethnic crisis in Sri Lanka.

Right from the initial days of the killings of the Tamils in Sri Lanka in the 1980s, various political parties in India made use of the issue for their own political mileage.

Consequently innumerable and untold miseries and loss of lives continue to cause ruckus to the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Who knows when will the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka would come to an end? Recently, major political parties staged a one-day token fast in Chennai and registered their condemnation against the atrocities on the Tamils in the Lankan nation.

Tamilnadu Congress committee president K V Thangkabalu said that the party had lost its leader former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi while endeavouring to find solution for the ethnic crisis.

He also said if situation arises, he would head the delegation of all parties to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.

Now, Tamilnadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has called upon the people to send telegrams to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to intervene immediately and stop the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Later PMK leader S Ramadoss urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to talk to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to pressurise the Sri Lankan government to give up military offensive against the Tamils in the island nation and initiate peace talks to find a solution to the ethnic crisis instead of asking the people to send lakhs and lakhs of telegrams to seek Manmohan’s immediate intervention.

He further demanded Karunanidhi to make use of the unity among political parties in Tamilnadu and take steps to ensure peace talks in this regard.

According to sources, certain external forces have been keep their eyes open on the happenings in the island nation and the subsequent actions by the Indian government. It seems the battle in finding amicable solution is a long way off ?
