Iran unfazed by US conspiracies since 1979

“The eyes of the whole world are on the Islamic Republic of Iran as it continues to widen its influence with its very clever diplomatic skills. The hearts and minds of our Sri-Lankans have undoubtedly inclined to the government and people of Iran after the visit of President Ahadinejad who generously helped US in our development programme at a time when the US and Europe were threating to cut-aid.”

(October 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) From day one of the success of the Islamic Revolution in Iran on 11th February 1979 the US, Israel and the European countries have demonized and continue to demonize, vilify and denigrate the Islamic Republic of Iran. When the world was bi-polar, before the fall of the Berlin Wall the Us and its allies also demonized the then soviet Union, but the intensity never matched the past and present malicious deionization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In addition the US have also tried their best to destabilize Iran in various ways. For brevity it is noteworthy to mention a few attempts of destabilization.

The attempt to rescue the hostages who were held on account of information that the US embassy in Tehran was making preparation to organize a coup to replace Imam Khomeni with a US stooge, like they did in replacing the elected prime minister Mosadeqh with the Shah in 1953. The rescue attempt failed by Divine intervention when the helicopters that led the raid collided with one another in mid-air and were destroyed and scores of US soldiers lay dead in the desert of Tabas while the citizens of Iran were fast asleep.

In retaliation for the taking of hostages the US also slapped sanction on food, medicines and other necessary items on the fledging Islamic state. Imam Khomeini responded by saying “ we are a poor nation subdued by imperialism, most of the time we have been in hunger, we will not only fast in Ramazan but also during the whole year for many years.”

The US is also spending millions of dollars on radio and television broadcasts in the Persian language beamed into Iran urging the people to effect regime change. Iranian traitors with funds from the US are working round the clock in Iran to destabilize the government and propagate mischievous and false news to the outside world. The US further sponsors such terrorist outfits as the Baluchi Jundullah and the Muhajideen Khalaq Organization to undermine the Islamic State in complete violation of the Algiers Accords of 1981 which was signed on the release of the hostages after 444 days of their captivity. Further the US still refuses to release more than $ 40 billion in Iranian assets that under the Algiers accords it was supposed to have released. Perhaps the worst attempt to dismantle the Islamic states happened when the US and its allies, including Arab states like Saudi –Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt gave aid in terms of money, arms and chemical weapons, including troops from the Arab countries to support Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran. The war which lasted for 8years September 1980-1989 left more than a million dead on both sides. Iran liberated all lands held by Iraq and when Iranian troops were advancing towards Baghdad a US sponsored UN resolution imposed peace much to the chagrin of Imam Khomeini who said “it was like taking poison.”

The present situation in this saga to demonize Iran is the nuclear issue. The US and its allies have influenced the UN Security Council to slap 3 sets of sanctions and time and again together with Israel have threatened to bomb Iran even using nuclear weapons. The US’s demand that Iran abandon its nuclear enrichment programme flies in the face of the NPT itself. The whole point of the treaty was that if non-nuclear states pledged not to pursue the military option, the nuclear powers would help them to benefit from the peaceful use of nuclear technology. In addition the nuclear powers themselves undertook nuclear disarmament to rid the world of the risk of nuclear annihilation. The US and its Western allies have failed on both counts; not one nuclear state has moved even an inch towards disarmament. Further Israel the greatest threat to the Middle –East, has faced no condemnation or criticisms for its nuclear vandalism. It is such hypocrisy that has enraged the rest of the world and stiffened Iran’s resolve not to give up its NPT rights.

Divine providence is always bestowed on the Iranian nation due to its adherence to religious principles.. Iran is certain that threats of war and bombing are all bravura bluster and braggadio. The US embroiled in a sinking quagmire in Afghanistan and Iraq with a financial crisis and recession on its door-step, in addition to a falling dollar and climbing inflation and unemployment is in no position to get involved in any further military adventures. Meanwhile Iran is fast becoming the regional- power in the Middle-East and is growing in influence in Asia, Latin America the Persian Gulf Emirates and in Africa. Iran has reliable friends in Syria, Lebanon (Hisbullah), Palestine(Hamas) Islamic Jihad, Venezuela, Bolivia and Sri-Lanka.

The eyes of the whole world are on the Islamic Republic of Iran as it continues to widen its influence with its very clever diplomatic skills. The hearts and minds of our Sri-Lankans have undoubtedly inclined to the government and people of Iran after the visit of President Ahadinejad who generously helped US in our development programme at a time when the US and Europe were threating to cut-aid. Presently the Rajapakse government has excellent relation with Iran.
