(October 31, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A reliable report reaching from an informed military source close to the LTTE says the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE), the Tamileelam Air Force (TAF)'s air attack Mannar Thalladai Sri Lankan military complex on Tuesday damaged a MI24 helicopter gunship and a BELL 17 troops carrier. Sri Lanka earlier claimed only one Security Forces member was slightly injured in the attack.
The Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) has lost seven MI-24 gun ships in the war since 1995. Five gun ships were brought down by the LTTE anti-aircraft unit and two were destroyed in LTTE operations on SLAF installations.
Meanwhile, another TAF Air Craft flown over Colombo and unloaded bombs over the power station caused extensive damages to the two turbines and cooler system in the power station in Kelanitissa which is causing 26 Lakh rupees losses per day to the government.
It is now feared Sri Lanka forced to limit the power supply to the country by imposing mandatory power cut in parts of the country for at least another six months.
Following TAF aircrafts over Colombo, many Sri Lankan military installations in Colombo activated Anti-Aircraft systems firing indiscriminately into the sky over Colombo. SLAF's so far failed to intercept the TAF in at least 7 of their bombing missions against their targets against Sri Lanka in the past 18 months. - Sri Lanka Guardian
