Sri Lanka delegation meets new UNHCHR Navanethem Pillay

The Minister’s delegation included Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador/ Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN in Geneva, Professor Rajiva Wijesinha, Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights and Mohan Peiris, P.C., Legal Consultant to the Ministry of Defence.

The Minister briefed the High Commissioner on various steps that have been taken by the Government to promote and protect human rights in Sri Lanka and expressed the hope that he would be able to continue to work closely with the new High Commissioner and her office.
