(September 12, New Delhi, Sri Lanka Guardian) It is amply clear that India wants to keep the innocent Kashmiris as "terrorists" and is keen to escalate "terrorism" in Jammu Kashmir and does not show eagerness to resolve the issue earnestly by surrendering sovereignty back to struggling Kashmiris even after such long blood letting. Not just that. Indian Muslims innocently support the Indian case almost making a mockery of their own pathetic existence and sufferings at the hands of the Hindu majority. The pro-India politicians who thrive on Indian cash and privileges and have huge sums in Swiss and lead a cozy life when fellow Kashmiris are being murdered mercilessly by Indian terror forces, unfortunately, don’t seem to believe they get human dignity by becoming free and independent.
Indian strategy of continued military occupation and genocide is comprehensible since escalation of violence would enable them to say: " look the Kashmiris are terrorists and they don’t want freedom form Indian hegemony and oppressions." This explains why the Indian government has snot yet invited the freedom leaders to finalize the freedom issue and power transfer modalities.
Recent developments vindicate that Kashmiris have ignored the pro-India stalwarts wanting elections. The common people are now determined to achieve freedom from oppressors and hence the masses began by protesting against the illegal and immoral land deal.
Illegal Land
Indian government, its anti-Muslim media and majority Hindus and even Muslims scone the freedom struggle of Kashmiris whose sovereignty India skillfully robbed off in 1947 by sending its terror forces under the slogan of “protecting” the Kashmiris from newly independent Pakistan. After killing over a lakh Kashmiris in a sustained manner, recently, once again, New Delhi has resorted to economic terrorism too by blocking goods movements to Kashmir by unnecessarily racking up an illegal Amarnath land controversy. Some the photographs available show how brute the Indian military and other secuei5rity forces and how badly the Kashmiris are tortured in jails.
But the Indian Muslims, whose brains are fully washed by anti-Muslim media in the country both in English and vernaculars, seem to argue for the illegal land deal. One does not know if these Muslims let their own land or other property being stolen by their neighbors and if they would donate lands for temple structure constructions! .
The Indian media, ill-focused on Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kashmir and ill-treat Indian Muslims, readily, as before, blamed ISI for the popular uprising in Kashmir. Thankly, the freedom leaders like Geelani laughed at Indian strategy.
Indo-Dreamers!
India wants to held polls now to divert the attention of the world over the Kashmir turbulence. The pro-India political parties are once again dreaming for forming “their” government in Srinagar and continue to support Indian "terror-cum-occupation" agenda in Kashmir. They think only elections can give them the stuff to do what they want as they legitimize all nefarious acclivities against innocent Kashmiris. National Conference (NC) is keen the new assembly could be constituted by January 2009. Leaders like the pro-India NC President Omar Abdullah has ruled out 'Azadi' (independence) or accession to Pakistan as a viable option for Kashmir and slammed the Centre for losing the 'best opportunity' to resolve the issue during Prevez Musharraf's tenure as the country's President. Abdullah said Gen Musharraf was a 'single window system' and India flunked this golden opportunity. But he still refused to dwell upon the “window” system and how that would benefit the freedom seeking Kashmiris.
The pro-India politicians are happy that the situation, unlike in early 1990s when the Kashmir was physically cut of from India and economically fully terrorized by India and they had to flee, but now there is no such danger to them. Only those who don’t’ care for the freedom for Kashmir can say what Omar has shamefully said: “It's my job to tell the people what I believe is in their interest and I sincerely believe that it is not in their interest. It is not a viable alternative to suggest “Azadi” or even accession to Pakistan”, though he admits “the situation in Kashmir was "bad" and the alienation of the people was a cause for concern. He does not believe that independence for Kashmir is a feasible or a viable option, but what exactly he wants then? Indian cash bundles? Free foreign trips?
Double-speak
Unable to illustrate what he wants to say especially on "political solution", Abdullah said Kashmir could be given independence but not freedom under the circumstances that prevail within the subcontinent-India, Pakistan and China. Even if India and Pakistan were somehow to decide to give the state independence, it would never be really free. Kashmir is essentially a political issue which needs political handling. It's not good enough that you give a 24,000 crore economic reconstruction package or you announce all sorts of confidence building measures. It's essentially about the political solution. Omar denied that ISI was involved in the recent widespread protests in the valley in the wake of the illegal Amarnath land transfer issue and said the protests were an upheaval of people's pent up simmering anger.
While PDP is unable to make up its mind over freedom for Kashmir, it does not think poll would end the crisis or led to an independent Kashmir. It looks NC is almost sure that India is considering surrendering of sovereignty back to freedom seeking Kashmiris and all the pro-Indian elements in Kashmir politics would lose power for ever in the Kashmir nation now surged with independence flavor that parties like NC have resisted and in effect sabotaged the movement by helping India as paid agents, co-killers and coconspirators to finish of the freedom fighters.
Meanwhile, Indian strategists have suggested going ahead with polls to divert the attention from freedom sentiments of Kashmiri masses. the Indian election commission, therefore, is preoccupied with the task entrusted by New Delhi to conduct the polls in the troubled region Jammu Kashmir and declare “results” National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) urged ECI that the need of the hour was not elections but to hold talks with the representatives of Kashmiri people and to release all political detainees to diffuse the crisis in Kashmir. The leaders are not in favor of depriving people from their democratic rights, but are in favor of empowerment of people. Abdullah said an election is not the solution to Kashmir issue. Elections will solve only day-to-day problems. Besides, NC, PDP, and Congress, BJP, CPI and Left parties, sources said, favored elections in time while NCP and JK Panthers Party suggested delimitation of assembly constituencies before finalizing the dates for polls.
The Government must address the just concerns and aspirations of the people in a responsive and responsible manner and put in place concrete confidence building measures aimed at repairing their damaged psyche, salvaging their bruised dignity, rekindling hope in their hearts and motivating them to mould their as well as the State's destiny through a consequential democratic process. First off the illegal Amarnath land deal should be shelved once for all and the freedom leaders should be invited to primarily discuss modalities of power transfer, without delay. That is still the best option before India.
A Note for Pro-India Kashmiris
The decades long freedom struggle launched by patriotic Kashmiris to redeem their sovereignty form the occupying Indian terrorists is being hampered for want of active support form the so-called pro-India leaders who keep hijacking the agenda by creating a mix-politics which is detriment to the genuine interests of Kashmiris. They should also share responsibility along with Indian leaders and military establishments for the ghastly killings of innocent and defenseless Kashmiris in a sustained manner by the Indian forces that have piled up huge arms toilets. Even after the issue being totally internationalized these leaders still prefer to play second fiddle to Indian masters for some small coins, mostly silver.
They need to worry about their place in a free, independent Kashmir; they will also be accommodated fairly. After all, those who opposed Indian independence and sided with “British Raj” were not killed by Nehru’s terror forces. Similarly, the patriotic Kashmiris will also see the pro-India elements were not eliminated indiscriminately. They should make their Indian counterparts that Kashmir remains an alien nation of Kashmiris under Indian continued occupation and they should also pressure Indian terror forces to wind up their “operations” in Kashmir and let the Kashmiris decide their destiny peacefully.
Indian strategy of splitting the Kashmiris along as many lines as it is possible so that freedom movement dies down has not worked quite well. Nor its global tactics of gaining international support for its occupation of Kashmir has earned it any where now. India stands exposed as anti-Muslims, anti-secular and anti-democratic, terrorist country. All the resources New Delhi spent on terrorizing Kashmir and fooling the world around have returned only a futile result. Hence leaders from the NC, PDP and Kashmir version of Congress party among others should come forward to join the mass struggle for “Azadi” right now and fight till Indian surrendered sovereignty back to Kashmir. Freedom is for all Kashmiris, although the movement is being led by select freedom groups. And, although only the kith and kin of the freedom fighters have been killed, the fruits of freedom will be enjoyed and relished by all Kashmiris, for sure. So, stop dreaming, and join the freedom movement to force India to quit Kashmir for sure. Enough of their fence-sitting and pro-India subversive politics in Kashmir on payment basis! Save the remaining Kashmiris from terrorist India!- Sri Lanka Guardian
