His mother thinking Pillayan would be at the function chose the occasion to give full vent to her agonies along with her daughters.”(September 02, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka Guardian) Stones and sand confronted the chief minister of the Eastern Province Mr Pillayan when he barged into a function as an uninvited guest organized to help people affected and displaced by the current events in Wakarai in the east. Organized by the Minister for Health and Youth Affairs for the Eastern Province Mr Hisbullah on the directives of President Mahinda Rajapakse Saturday August 30, 2008, the event turned into an angry fiasco when Pillayan arrived at the scene.
We understand the chief minister was angrily confronted by Raman Thanganayagam the mother of a former LTTE activist and Muttur organizer Sathveekan and his three sisters Ranjitham, Parameshwari and Rathnam for being the man behind his brutal killing. It is generally believed Pillayan had caused an orgy of killing to take over the TMVP.
Sathveekan was one of the main leaders who joined Karuna Amman’s Tamil Eelam Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP) when they split from the LTTE. Sensing he would be among the top rankers of the TMVP, Pillayan was believed to have included him among those whom he chose to decimate on his road to power.

Spraying stones and sand at Pillayan, she called him a cannibal who feasted on human flesh. An ugly scene was averted by the security forces effectively handling the situation.
